City of Monash

The City of Monash is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne and has an area of 81.0 square kilometres. In 2001 it had a population of 165,000. The current mayor of The City of Monash is Stephen Dimopoulos.
On Thursday, 15 December 1994 the City of Monash was created out of the City of Waverley and part of the City of Oakleigh. It was named after World War I commander Sir John Monash.
