Chimecho (Chirean in Japanese) is a tiny wind chime Pokémon of the Psychic type. It does not evolve. It eats berries with its long tail. It rings in high winds and cries as it hangs from a tree branch or the eaves of a building. Chimecho looks like it can be blown away by a hurricane in just a few seconds. It likes to ring the chime on its head.
Name Origin
"Chimecho" is a conjunction of "chime" and "echo," because the chimes it makes echo inside the hollow bell on its head.
Availability
In Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire, Chimecho can be caught at the summit of Mt. Pyre, only at the two patches of grass to the left and right of the very top. It is so rare, though, that it may be hours before you will encounter one. Because of this, Chimecho is the rarest Pokémon in the game, excluding the one-of-a-kind legendaries.
Anime Appearances
Chimecho appears in the animé in the episode, "Fortree City's Feather Carnival," where Team Rocket's James obtains one. He then has it for the rest of the Hoenn saga, though he rarely uses it for battle.
