Children of the Corn

Children of the Corn is a short story by Stephen King. Originally published in the March 1977 issue of Penthouse magazine, it later became part of his Night Shift short story collection.
The story is about a couple who happen upon a small town where the children have formed a strange cult. They come to learn that all of the adults in town have been killed by the children, who worship a being that exists in the local corn fields, referred to as "He Who Walks Behind the Rows".
The story was first adapted into film as Disciples of the Crow. The story was later adapted into a film of the same name as the original story in 1984, starring Linda Hamilton. Several sequels to it have been made, loosely based on the original story. King has often tried to disassociate himself from these movies, due to the generally low quality of these films.
