Chestnut Ridge is a village located in Rockland County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 7,829.
The Village of Chestnut Ridge is in the Town of Ramapo.
Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 12.8 km² (4.9 mi²). 12.8 km² (4.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 7,829 people, 2,551 households, and 2,107 families residing in the village. The population density is 611.9/km² (1,584.6/mi²). There are 2,601 housing units at an average density of 203.3/km² (526.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 73.96% White, 13.87% African American, 0.13% Native American, 6.74% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 2.68% from other races, and 2.55% from two or more races. 8.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,551 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.2% are married couples living together, 7.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.4% are non-families. 13.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.87 and the average family size is 3.12.
In the village the population is spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
