Chaozu (餃子), or Chiaotzu in the English anime, is a fictional character in the manga Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z and the anime Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
Little is known about him, except for being a student along with Tenshinhan (Tien) of Tsuru-Sen'nin (Master Shen), The crane Hermit, and he has skills that involve telepathy and telekinesis. He has participated alongside Tien in the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budôkai to represent Shin to win the tournament, but Chaozu had later lost in the quarter-finals against Kuririn (Krillin), representative for Tsuru-Sen'nin's rival, Muten-Rôshi (Master Roshi). He and Tien later join Master Roshi after being threatened by Tsuru-Sen'nin.
After King Piccolo's release from the Denshi jar, he, Tien, and Master Roshi had begun their search for the dragonballs to revive Kuririn. After Master Roshi succumbed to exhaustion due to using the Mafuba, Chaozu was about to make his wish to kill King Piccolo when he was killed by Piccolo. He was later wished back to life by Bulma and company, after Son Goku convinced Kami to bring Shenron back to life, thus reviving the dragonballs. He later appears in the Dragon Ball Z series, mainly fighting in the Saiyan Saga, but he sacrificed himself to be rid of Nappa. No damage was done to Nappa. He was later wished back alongside Tien by the Namekian dragonballs. Since then, Chaozu mostly stays in the background.
