Chaffee is a city located in Scott County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,044.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 km² (1.8 mi²). 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.75% water.
Chaffee is also known for having won the Missouri state 1A Football and Baseball championships in 1983. It is also the home town of William Hargrove, Shawn Powderly, Nick Powderly, Chris Coonts, Rocky Portell and Brittany Bennett.
Demographics

The racial makeup of the city is 98.46% White, 0.07% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. 1.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,267 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.8% are married couples living together, 15.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.9% are non-families. 32.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
