Centre is a city located in Cherokee County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 3,216. The city is the county seat of Cherokee County.
Geography
Centre is located at 34°9'33.052" North, 85°40'29.071" West (34.159181, -85.674742)Template:GR.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 28.7 km² (11.1 mi²). 28.4 km² (11.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.99% water.
Demographics

The racial makeup of the city is 87.90% White, 10.01% Black or African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. 0.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
