Centerport is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,446.
Centerport is in the Town of Huntington.
Geography
Centerport is located at 40°53'34" North, 73°22'41" West (40.892848, -73.378007)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.2 km² (3.6 mi²). 5.5 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 40.34% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,446 people, 2,022 households, and 1,526 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 987.2/km² (2,562.0/mi²). There are 2,094 housing units at an average density of 379.6/km² (985.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.65% White, 0.22% African American, 0.11% Native American, 1.18% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. 2.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
