Celis

Celis is a brewery in the United States. The most widely known brews are Celis White, a Belgian-style witbier (wheat beer), and Celis Pale Bock.
The brewery was founded by Belgian brewer Pierre Celis, who had already founded the well-known Hoegaarden Brewery, named after his home town Hoegaarden in Belgium. Celis relocated to the United States, where he became a leading figure in the craft beer movement of the 1990s.
Celis Brewery was located in a small building in the northeast of Austin, Texas near the highways US 290 and I-35. Miller Brewing bought a stake in Celis Brewery and managed distribution. Miller bought out Celis's remaining share in the company, but after claiming that the beers were not generating sufficient revenue, they decided to close the brewery. The last of the beer was delivered to stores in February 2001.
In late 2002, Michigan Brewery announced it had acquired the Celis brand name from Miller. Celis White and Celis Pale Bock began to ship to pubs again in December 2002.
