Castle Amber
|
Castle Amber is a Dungeons & Dragons module, coded X2, written for use with the Expert D&D set. Castle Amber (Chateau d'Amberville) is actually one of several subtle literary adaptations among D&D modules, although this one draws from at least two sources--the Auvergne stories of Clark Ashton Smith, and "The Fall of the House of Usher," by Edgar Allan Poe. A selected bibliography is actually included at the rear of the module. Certainly among the more esoteric D&D modules, Castle Amber's primary raison d'etre seems to have been to introduce users to certain fantasy authors admired by the module designers.
Castle Amber is also a central location (and habitat of most major characters) in The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny.
