Caroliner Rainbow
|
Caroliner is an Experimental/Noise/Art-damaged conceptual San Francisco band dedicated to creating a fever dream of American psychedelia - utilizing bluegrass music instruments, weird effects, other-worldly pageantry, and day-glo character outfits similar to those of the Residents or Disneyland. They typically display a large, vibrantly painted bull statue and carry it around like a pagan idol during their performance. The shows are meant to recreate the experiences of Wisconsin pioneers in the 1800s, who responded to harsh winters and ergot-poisoned wheat stores with episodes of mass hallucination and insanity.
The full name of the band changes with each album or performance, although it always begins with the words "Caroliner Rainbow."
According to legend there has been one singer in charge since their initial 1986 release of "Rear End Hernia Puppet Show" who has used a variety of pseudonyms over the years. Other members use pseudonyms that render them anonymous as well, though it is fairly well documented that Dame Darcy was a member in the early 1990s.
