Carmen Joan Duncan (born July 7, 1942 in Cooma, New South Wales) is an Australian actress.
She is known to most Australians as a character actress appearing in such TV shows as Number 96 (as Helen Sheridan Sellars) and A Country Practice (as Rowena Elliott).
From October 1988 to September 1994, she was the second actress to play Iris Cory Carrington Wheeler on the American soap opera Another World. She succeeded Beverlee McKinsey in the role after a long absence.
Many of Duncan's critics noted that she looked much younger than her stepmother on the show, Rachel Cory (played by Victoria Wyndham). When Rachel married Iris's father Mac in the 1970s, the main drama stemmed from the fact that Iris was a couple of years older than Rachel. With the age dynamic ostensibly changed, television critics and fans alike found Duncan to be jarring in the role. In real life, however, the actress was three years older than Victoria Wyndham.
Another criticism was that, even though she took elocution lessons to fight it, she spoke in a distinct Australian accent, thus she looked out of place in an American family.
Carmen's younger sister is actress Paula Duncan.
In 2004, Duncan filled in for Eileen Fulton as Lisa Miller Grimaldi on As the World Turns while Fulton was on leave.
