Carey is a city located in Blaine County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 513. Carey is primarily an agricultural town and is also the location of the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Nearby recreational destinations include Craters of the Moon National Monument and the Little Wood River.

Carey is located at 43°18'34" North, 113°56'43" West (43.309319, -113.945293)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.7 km² (3.3 mi²). 8.7 km² (3.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Carey is located at the junctions of U.S. Highways 26-93 and 20 and is the commercial center of the Little Wood River Valley. It was founded by a group of Mormon colonists led by Cyrus Joseph Stanford in 1883 who named the town Marysville. It was renamed Carey with the arrival of his younger brother, Thomas C. Stanford in 1884.

There are 187 housing units at an average density of 21.6/km² (55.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 92.79% White, 0.19% African American, 0.97% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 4.68% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. 10.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 166 households out of which 43.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.5% are married couples living together, 6.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.5% are non-families. 19.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.09 and the average family size is 3.55.
In the city the population is spread out with 35.1% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 18.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 112.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 110.8 males.
