Cancer Research UK is a cancer research and awareness-promotion group in the United Kingdom, formed in 2002 by the merger of the Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.
As of 2004, the charity spends more £190 million per year on cancer research, supporting the work of 3,000 researchers, physicians, and other medical professionals. The majority of its funds come from donations and its 650 high-street charity shops.
Cancer Research UK is supported by a number of celebrities, including Timothy West, Michael Aspel and Robert Winston.
