Butman Township is a township in Gladwin County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,947.

- Sugar Rapids is an unincorporated community in the township on the Sugar River at the junction of Littleton and Ritchie county roads about a mile east of Hockaday. It is at Template:Coor dms, the FIPS place code is 77060, and it is 796 feet above sea level.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 92.4 km² (35.7 mi²). 88.2 km² (34.1 mi²) of it is land and 4.1 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.49% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,947 people, 853 households, and 690 families residing in the township. The population density is 22.1/km² (57.2/mi²). There are 1,482 housing units at an average density of 16.8/km² (43.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.36% White, 0.10% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 853 households out of which 17.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.9% are married couples living together, 3.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.1% are non-families. 16.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.28 and the average family size is 2.51.
In the township the population is spread out with 16.1% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 15.6% from 25 to 44, 37.5% from 45 to 64, and 25.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
