Buggy the Clown

Buggy the Clown is a fictional character of the manga and anime One Piece.
He is the captain of Buggy's Band, another pirate group. He accidentally consumed the Chop-Chop Fruit (Bara-Bara Fruit in the Japanese releases), a Devil Fruit (Cursed Fruit in the English anime, which allowed him to separate his body parts, but robbed him of the ability to swim, and to this day, he blames Red-Haired Shanks for the accident. What happened was that he found the Chop Chop Fruit and tried to steal it (Because the fruit was supposedly worth a lot of money). In the process he replaced it with a fake, and tried to show everyone it did nothing, while still getting to keep the real one. Shanks surprised him, and to hide the fruit, he accidentially put it in his mouth and ate it.
He was defeated by Monkey D. Luffy after Nami managed to steal his separated body parts, but has since then regained his body with the help of Alvida and went in search of revenge.
Buggy's first mate is Mohji the Lion Tamer (also known as Mohji the Animal Trainer or Mohji the Beast Breaker), and his second mate is Cabaji the Acrobat.
Buggy was originally going to be called "Boogie". The creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, saw a TV show and saw that the name "Boogie" was taken. Oda quickly thought up of the new name.
