Buckfield is a town located in Oxford County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,723. Along with nearby Hartford and Sumner, Buckfield is a member of Maine School Administrative District 39.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 98.1 km² (37.9 mi²). 97.6 km² (37.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.53% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,723 people, 668 households, and 476 families residing in the town. The population density is 17.7/km² (45.7/mi²). There are 715 housing units at an average density of 7.3/km² (19.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.49% White, 0.00% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.35% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 0.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 668 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% are non-families. 20.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the town the population is spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $36,821, and the median income for a family is $40,078. Males have a median income of $28,472 versus $22,262 for females. - The Oddfellow Theater - a small theater, run by native Mike and Kim Miclon. Considering Buckfield's small size, the Oddfellow Theatre features an enormous variety of events, including the humorously named Early Evening Show, a monthly feature in the style of The Tonight Show, hosted by Mike Miclon himself.
