Brooklyn is a village located in Jackson County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,176.
The Michigan International Speedway is located just south of the village.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.98% is water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,176 people, 507 households, and 297 families residing in the village. The population density is 454.1/km² (1,171.1/mi²). There are 534 housing units at an average density of 206.2/km² (531.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.96% White, 0.00% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. 1.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 507 households out of which 27.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.8% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.4% are non-families. 35.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.22 and the average family size is 2.87.
In the village the population is spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 81.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 74.1 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $31,964, and the median income for a family is $48,750. Males have a median income of $32,727 versus $22,083 for females. The per capita income for the village is $18,933. 12.1% of the population and 9.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 25.1% of those under the age of 18 and 12.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
