Bridgewater Township is a civil township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,646.
Communities
- Bridgewater is an unincorporated community in section one in the northeast corner of the township. It is situated approximately 15 miles southwest of Ann Arbor at Template:Coor dms. The ZIP code is 48115 and the FIPS place code is 10540.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 95.5 km² (36.9 mi²). 94.7 km² (36.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.76% water.
The River Raisin runs through the western part of the township, while the Saline River has its headwaters in Jaslin Lake in the northeast of the township.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,646 people, 598 households, and 477 families residing in the township. The population density is 17.4/km² (45.0/mi²). There are 615 housing units at an average density of 6.5/km² (16.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.15% White, 0.12% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. 0.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 598 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% are married couples living together, 4.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% are non-families. 14.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.07.
In the township the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 29.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 103.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.7 males.
