Bridge House Estates
|
Bridge House Estates is a trust in London. Originally established to maintain London Bridge, it later rebuilt it several times and built Blackfriars Bridge and Tower Bridge. It also purchased Southwark Bridge and most recently took ownership of the London Millennium Bridge.
Its office, Bridge House, was on the south side of the Thames at the end of London Bridge, though still within the boundary of the City of London.
Originally funded by tolls on London Bridge, and also by charitable donations, it acquired an extensive property portfolio which made it self-sufficient. As well as maintaining the bridges, since 1995 it has made other charitable grants. Its trustees are the Corporation of London.
