Bradford is a town located in Steuben County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 763. The town is named after Major Robert Bradford.

History
The town was formed from the Town of Orange (then the "Town of Jersey") in Schuyler County, New York in 1836.

The east town line is the border of Schuyler County, New York. Part of Lamoka Lake is within the east town line
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 64.4 km² (24.9 mi²). 64.3 km² (24.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.16% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 763 people, 288 households, and 198 families residing in the town. The population density is 11.9/km² (30.7/mi²). There are 337 housing units at an average density of 5.2/km² (13.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.82% White, 0.13% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.26% from two or more races. 0.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 288 households out of which 34.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% are non-families. 21.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.09.
In the town the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 103.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.8 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $35,417, and the median income for a family is $39,107. Males have a median income of $28,750 versus $25,313 for females. - Bradford -- A hamlet in the northeast part of the town. The community is located near the end of a small lake called Mill Pond, which is partly in the town.
- South Bradford -- A hamlet in the south central part of the town.
