Boys Nation
|
Boys Nation is an annual civic training event run by the American Legion.
Each year, two delegates in their junior year of high school are selected from each of the forty-eight American Legion Boys State programmes through the USA. These delegates attend the week-long event in Washington, DC.
The event endeavours to teach delegates about the processes of federal government in the United States of America, through taking part in a mock Senate and hold a mock election for President, attending lectures and forums, and visiting governmental institutions and historical sites.
Former delegates to Boys Nation include Bill Clinton and Gaddi Vasquez.
The American Legion Auxiliary runs a similiar event called Girls Nation.
