Bowie Baysox
The Bowie Baysox are a class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The Baysox play in the Eastern League and are based in Bowie, Maryland, which is in Prince George's County. They play in Prince George's Stadium. For many years, the Orioles' AA affiliate was located in Hagerstown and called the Suns. The franchise shifted to Bowie, a larger market (30 minutes from Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis) with a newer ballpark for 1994 after playing one season at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium. The team is currently owned by the Comcast cable network. The "Baysox" nickname is derived from Bowie's relative proximity to the Chesapeake Bay.
