The Bouygues group is a French industrial group founded in 1952 by Francis Bouygues and since 1989 led by his son Martin Bouygues. In 2003 it had over 124,000 employees in 80 countries and generated nearly 22 billion Euros in sales, including 6 billion Euros outside of France.
Originally in the building and public works businesses, Bouygues has since diversified into:
- Telecommunications, through Bouygues Telecom, present in the cell phone market
- Mass media, through the TF1 television network
- Movie production, through the CiBy 2000 subsidiary (Little Buddha, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me)
Bouygues is listed on the Paris Stock Exchange and is a blue chip in the CAC 40 stock market index.
