Body thetan

In Scientology doctrine, body thetans or BTs are the ghosts of the victims of a genocide perpetrated 75 million years ago by Xenu. Having lost their individual identities, BTs are believed to attach themselves to and identify with humans, becoming part of their "reactive minds".
The portion of Scientology doctrine dealing with body thetans and the procedure to free oneself from their influence is introduced in the course OT III (Operating Thetan, Level 3 — the story of Xenu). This course is located about midway on the Scientology Bridge, and like all OT courses is not revealed to students until they have completed all previous steps along The Bridge. OT IV to OT VII deals further with one's body thetans.
