Bobby Loves Mangos

Bobby Loves Mangos is a 1998 short film that touches on the consequences of time travel from the standpoint of an elementary school principal who receives a mysterious video cassette in the mail.
Principal Dwight Stevenson receives a video cassette in the mail. The cassette is a simple recording of a man who claims to be one of Stevenson's students, Bobby Derek, years in the future. Derek says that he has been given the opportunity to test new technology that allowed him to send the tape into the past. The reason for the tape is to warn Stevenson about an impending disaster.
A couple days after Stevenson receives the tape, Bobby's class is scheduled to take a trip. According to the man who identifies himself as Bobby on the tape, he was not able to go on the trip because the night before, his mother served him mangos, to which he had a serious allergic reaction. Everyone who went on the trip was supposed to have died when the bus swerved off a bridge. Derek advises the principal to suggest an alternate route. He also advises not to contact authorities, as it would alter the timeline too much.
After seeing the tape, Stevenson's secretary buys all the mangos in the grocery store so that Bobby will not have an allergic reaction and go to the hospital. She fails to consider that the mangos were the only thing that kept Bobby off the bus and saved his life. Bobby does not eat mangos, and is well the day of the trip. Although he believes the timeline has already been irrevocably changed, Stevenson goes ahead with the plan and asks the bus driver to take an alternate route.
Police come to the school to inform Stevenson that Bobby Derek has been kidnapped by his father, Charles Derek, who stopped the bus on its alternate route. The man on the tape is identified as Charles Derek, and it is clear the tape is not really from the future. Bobby's mother says that Bobby isn't allergic to anything, and that he loves mangos.
