Blob (comics)

The Blob (Fred J. Dukes) is a supervillain appearing in Marvel Comics' X-Men, among other titles. The Blob first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #3 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
The Blob's mutant physiology grants him superhuman resistance to injury; his highly elastic blubbery skin has even proven impenetrable to Wolverine's claws. He can also alter his personal gravity to make him virtually immovable, although an incredible force (such as the Juggernaut or Colossus) can uproot him.
His agility is at a level of an athlete of normal weight and build, despite his massive girth; this unseeming agility has won him more than a few fights with unsuspecting opponents. His major weaknesses are his short temper, lack of foresight, and his easily-manipulated self-esteem. The Blob has been associated with almost every iteration of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and has consistently been one of its most sadistic members.
He started out as a member of a circus sideshow, but when he learned of the existence of the X-Men he decided to join them at the invitation of the group's founder Charles Xavier (Professor X), then tried to take over their mansion; he failed at both tasks. Later, he was recruited for Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, remaining a member through the Brotherhood's reorganization as Freedom Force, and after Freedom Force's dissolution, he rejoined the Brotherhood with the rest of his surviving teammates.
The Blob has also appeared in the X-Men Evolution animated television series, where he was a classmate and bully of the X-Men prior to joining Mystique's Brotherhood.
He possesses superhuman strength that has enabled him to go toe-to-toe with Colossus, who possesses Class 75 superhuman strength (enabling him to lift/press 75 tons under optimal conditions).
