Black Creek Pioneer Village
|
Black Creek Pioneer Village is an historic site in Toronto, Ontario, just west of York University and a short distance northeast of the Jane and Finch intersection. It overlooks Black Creek.
The village consists of thirty-five historic 19th century buildings, decorated in period style with period furnishings, and features historical reenactments and visiting artisans. Buildings include period housing, farm buildings, a watermill, a general store, a smithy and a hotel. A core of buildings built by the Stong family are on their original sites, while others have been moved in from across Southern Ontario.
The village is a regular destination for field trips by schoolchildren from the Greater Toronto Area.
It is operated by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
