Bethel is a village located in Shelby County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 121.

History
Bethel was founded by Dr William Keil (1811 - 1877), a Prussian-born preacher who had been a member of the Methodist church, in 1844. By 1850, Bethel had a population of 650. However, the construction of a railroad from Hannibal to St. Joseph threatened his theocracy. In 1855, he led his followers westward over the Oregon Trail, to eventually settle Aurora, Oregon.

There are 77 housing units at an average density of 212.4/km² (545.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.35% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.65% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 56 households out of which 26.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.6% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.6% are non-families. 42.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.16 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the village the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
