According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 96.2 km² (37.1 mi²). 96.2 km² (37.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,162 people, 1,050 households, and 872 families residing in the township. The population density is 32.9/km² (85.2/mi²). There are 1,076 housing units at an average density of 11.2/km² (29.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.19% White, 0.89% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 2.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,050 households out of which 41.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.8% are married couples living together, 6.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.9% are non-families. 14.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.01 and the average family size is 3.33.
