Belton is a city in Cass County, Missouri, near Kansas City. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 21,730.

Geography
Belton is at 38°49'6" North, 94°31'47" West (38.818232, -94.529838)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 34.8 km² (13.4 mi²). 34.7 km² (13.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.30% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 21,730 people, 7,945 households, and 5,807 families residing in the city. The population density is 626.1/km² (1,622.2/mi²). There are 8,411 housing units at an average density of 242.4/km² (627.9/mi²).
Racial makeup
The racial makeup of the city is 92.98% White, 2.86% African American, 0.59% Native American, 0.59% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 1.07% from other races, and 1.84% from two or more races. 4.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Households
There are 7,945 households, out of which 40.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% are married couples living together, 12.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.9% are non-families. 22.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.15.
The population is spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.1 males.
