Bellport is a village located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,363.
The Village of Bellport is in the Town of Brookhaven.
Geography
Bellport is located at 40°45'25" North, 72°56'30" West (40.757034, -72.941603)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.0 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.81% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,363 people, 993 households, and 684 families residing in the village. The population density is 624.9/km² (1,619.7/mi²). There are 1,139 housing units at an average density of 301.2/km² (780.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 95.13% White, 1.27% African American, 0.38% Native American, 1.65% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. 1.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 993 households out of which 23.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.4% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% are non-families. 24.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.86.
