Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 23,577 people, 11,314 households, and 6,878 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,625.6/km² (4,207.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.84% White, 0.67% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.62% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 3.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,314 households out of which 15.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 8.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.2% are non-families. 34.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 25.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.03 and the average family size is 2.55.
