Bath is a town located in Steuben County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 12,097.
The Town of Bath contains the village Bath. The town is in the northern part of the county. Interstate 86 passes through the town.

History
The town was established in 1793.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 249.4 km² (96.3 mi²). 248.6 km² (96.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.32% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 12,097 people, 4,905 households, and 3,050 families residing in the town. The population density is 48.7/km² (126.0/mi²). There are 5,402 housing units at an average density of 21.7/km² (56.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.04% White, 1.79% Black or African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 0.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,905 households out of which 28.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% are married couples living together, 11.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% are non-families. 31.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.34 and the average family size is 2.90.
In the town the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $32,508, and the median income for a family is $39,625. Males have a median income of $30,456 versus $25,160 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,939. 14.5% of the population and 10.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 19.5% of those under the age of 18 and 7.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
