Bardonia is a hamlet (and a census-designated place) located in Rockland County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,367.
Bardonia is in the Town of Clarkstown, north of the New York State Thruway.
Geography
Bardonia is located at 41°6'51" North, 73°58'59" West (41.114128, -73.983042)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.5 km² (2.9 mi²). 6.6 km² (2.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.42% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,367 people, 1,450 households, and 1,189 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 658.6/km² (1,704.6/mi²). There are 1,468 housing units at an average density of 221.4/km² (573.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 87.54% White, 1.53% African American, 0.23% Native American, 7.88% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.40% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. 5.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,450 households out of which 38.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.7% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.0% are non-families. 15.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.01 and the average family size is 3.37.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 31.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
