Baldwin is a hamlet (and a census-designated place) located in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 23,455.
Baldwin is also a station on the Long Island Rail Road.

Geography
The community is located in the southeast part of the county.
Baldwin is located at 40°39'48" North, 73°36'38" West (40.663346, -73.610618)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.7 km² (3.0 mi²). 7.6 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.34% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 23,455 people, 7,868 households, and 6,081 families residing in the village. The population density is 3,069.8/km² (7,954.4/mi²). There are 7,999 housing units at an average density of 1,046.9/km² (2,712.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 65.84% White, 22.89% African American, 0.32% Native American, 3.30% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 4.60% from other races, and 3.03% from two or more races. 11.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 7,868 households out of which 38.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.0% are married couples living together, 12.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.7% are non-families. 18.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.98 and the average family size is 3.40.
In the community the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 89.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.2 males.
