Baldwin Locomotive Works was once a major manufacturer of steam locomotives. It was founded by Matthias William Baldwin in 1831. At the beginning of the 20th century it was the largest manufacturer of steam locomotives in the United States of America. Before going out of business it had merged with other locomotive manufacturers in 1950 to form Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corporation, but BLH ceased building locomotives in 1956.
Baldwin Piano is the largest manufacturer of pianos and keyboard instruments in the United States. It was purchased by Gibson after declaring bankruptcy in 2001.
