Bakhtiari
|
The Bakhtiari (or Bakhtiyari) are a people in southern Iran. A small percentage of them are still nomadic livestock herders. Bakhtiaris speak a dialect of Persian. Numerical estimates of their total population widely vary. In Khuzestan, Bakhtiari tribes are primarily concentrated in the eastern part of the province.
Many significant Iranian politicians (e.g. Mossadegh) are of Bakhtiari origin.
