Badock Hall
|
Badock Hall is one of the University of Bristol Halls of residence that provide accommodation largely for first year students. Located in the leafy suburb of Stoke Bishop, Badock was opened in 1964 and named after the late Sir Stanley Hugh Badock, a former Pro-Chancellor, Treasurer and Chairman of the Council of the University.
Badock is now a lively catered Hall with accommodation for more than 430 students, comprising single study bedrooms housed in ten separate units, each supervised by a pastoral tutor; allowing the development of a friendly, social atmosphere. A majority of rooms have built-in wash basins. The main building houses the Dining Hall, The Gemini Club Bar with giant screen and DJ facilities, the Terrace Room with satellite TV and the Main Library for quiet study. There is a Music Room, a grand piano in the Dining Hall, Dark Room, Art Room and Computer room. Badock has four all weather Tennis Courts, four Squash Courts, a Snooker Room and Table Tennis facilities. In addition there is a Laundrette, private parking facilities and two secure under cover cycle sheds.
The Hall has a number of meeting rooms used for conferences of varying sizes. Day meetings are facilitated throughout the year, with the exception of the month of August. During the summer vacation period residential courses are hosted entirely on site.
