Azle, Texas

Azle is a city spanning a diverse cross section of Tarrant and Parker County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,600.
Popular tourist attractions include marine spectator sports, classic American sports car contests of speed, creative horse trailer loading (and unloading), and competitive artistic lawn care showcases.
Azle is the home of the Azle Marching Green Pride marching band and the Fighting Azle Hornets.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.3 km² (8.2 mi²). 21.2 km² (8.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.49% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 9,600 people, 3,716 households, and 2,701 families residing in the city. The population density is 452.0/km² (1,170.8/mi²). There are 3,957 housing units at an average density of 186.3/km² (482.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.90% White, 0.22% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.41% from other races, and 1.29% from two or more races. 4.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,716 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.00.
In the city the population is spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $43,304, and the median income for a family is $51,660. Males have a median income of $37,522 versus $26,998 for females. The per capita income for the city is $20,817. 9.1% of the population and 6.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.0% of those under the age of 18 and 13.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
