Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 11,446 people, 4,088 households, and 3,143 families residing in the city. The population density is 211.8/km² (548.4/mi²). There are 4,291 housing units at an average density of 79.4/km² (205.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.02% White, 0.72% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.24% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. 1.28% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,088 households out of which 37.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% are non-families. 19.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.72 and the average family size is 3.15.
