August Penguin
|
August Penguin is a yearly gathering of Israeli people interested in Free Software.
August Penguin is held in or near Tel Aviv on the first Friday of every August since 2002. It lasts one day and includes technical talks, Free Software trivia competitions and a keysigning party.
Since the establishment in 2003 of Hamakor, an Israeli not-for-profit for promoting free software, it has taken charge of organizing the annual event.
The first annual Hamakor Prize for free software-related achievements was awarded to Maxim Iorsh at AP III (2004) for his work on the Hebrew font package Culmus (http://culmus.sourceforge.net).
