Au Train Township is a township located in Alger County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,172.

Location of Au Train, Michigan
- The unincorporated community of Au Train is located within the township on Michigan State Highway 28 where the Au Train River empties into the Au Train Bay in Lake Superior. It is in the north of the western section of the Hiawatha National Forest. Au Train is at Template:Coor dms. The ZIP code is 49806 and the FIPS place code is 04440. The elevation is 612 feet above sea level.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 428.6 km² (165.5 mi²). 367.9 km² (142.1 mi²) of it is land and 60.7 km² (23.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 14.17% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,172 people, 494 households, and 348 families residing in the township. The population density is 3.2/km² (8.3/mi²). There are 991 housing units at an average density of 2.7/km² (7.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 92.24% White, 0.00% African American, 4.69% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 2.90% from two or more races. 0.94% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 494 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.7% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% are non-families. 23.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.81.
