Atlanterhavsveien
|
Atlanterhavsveien ("The Atlantic Road") is a road connecting the Norwegian island/municipality of Averøy to Eide, and, hence, the Norwegian mainland. Both municipalities lie in the northwestern district Nordmøre. Construction work on the road started in 1983, with the opening taking place on July 7, 1989. The 8¼ km road (5 mi) crosses several small islands, and is connected by no less than eight bridges. The spectactular road is a popular attraction for tourists as well as for the local population, who frequently go fishing for cod and other saltwater fish directly from the roadside.
