Ashton-Sandy Spring is a census-designated place located in Montgomery County, Maryland. The CDP is designated to include the two unincorporated communities of Ashton and Sandy Spring.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the place has a total area of 19.7 km² (7.6 mi²). 19.6 km² (7.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.26% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,437 people, 1,246 households, and 914 families residing in the area. The population density is 175.3/km² (454.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the area is 81.00% White, 12.28% African American, 0.23% Native American, 3.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.25% from other races, and 1.80% from two or more races. 3.52% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
