Ashley Mote

Ashley Mote is a Member of the European Parliament for the South East England. He was elected as a representative of the United Kingdom Independence Party but has since had the party whip removed. He was first elected in 2004.
He used to work in the marketing industry and has published two political books - Vigilance - A Defence of British Liberty about the European Union, and OverCrowded Britain: Our Immigration Crisis Exposed about immigration. He has also written about cricket.
The UKIP removed the whip from Ashley Mote on 15 July 2004 after learning that he faces trial over allegations of housing benefit fraud. Mr Mote failed to tell party managers of the impending court case and it only came to their attention after an article appeared in the Daily Telegraph. The Telegraph reports that he is facing nine charges of false accounting and one of making a false representation.
