Arne Anka
|
Arne Anka is a discontinued Swedish comic strip by Charlie Christensen. The title character closely resembles Donald Duck (who is called "Kalle Anka" in Swedish). The likeness with Donald Duck is only, however, feather deep; the comics usually take place at a bar, where Arne Anka gets drunk, while he cynically thinks and discusses about life.
Four Arne Anka comic albums have been published. In the beginning of the 1990's, the Walt Disney company threatned to sue the auothor, Charlie Christensen, due to Arne Ankas similarity with Donald Duck. As a response, Charlie Christensen drew a comic strip about Arne Anka going to a novelty store to buy a fake beak, designed be worn in the comics instead of his old, Donald Duckish beak. This new beak was worn until the threat of being sued was withdrawn.
Arne Anka has also been produced as a play at Stockholms stadsteater with Robert Gustafsson starring as Arne.
