According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 11.2 km² (4.3 mi²). 11.0 km² (4.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.07% water.

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,290 people, 1,717 households, and 1,167 families residing in the village. The population density is 389.7/km² (1,009.2/mi²). There are 1,807 housing units at an average density of 164.2/km² (425.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 91.54% White, 0.47% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.78% from other races, and 1.38% from two or more races. 12.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,717 households out of which 33.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% are married couples living together, 7.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.0% are non-families. 29.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 3.05.
