Annette Brooke

Annette Lesley Brooke (born June 7, 1942) is a British politician, and has been Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Mid-Dorset and North Poole since 2001. She held her seat in the 2005 UK general election, whilst also managing to increase her majority from 500 to 5000 votes.
In May 2005, she met Hollywood actress Natalie Portman to discuss the microfinance charity, Finca, and their joint plans to help the world's poorest people become self-sufficient.
Originally a school teacher, and then Head of Economics at Talbot Heath School for Girls in Dorset, she has also been the leader of the Liberal Democrats on Poole City Council, and served as Mayor of Poole. She is currently the Liberal Democrat Spokeswoman for Children.
