Anne Will

Anne Will (born March 18, 1966) is Germany's prime anchor woman, presenting the daily Tagesthemen on ARD.
Born in Cologne, she grew up as the daughter of an architect in Hürth, Germany. After high school at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium [1] (http://www.asg-huerth.de) in Huerth, she studied history, politics and anglistics in Cologne and Berlin starting in 1985. During her studies she was already working as a journalist at Kölnische Rundschau (Cologne Television) and the Berliner Volksblatt newspaper. In mid-1990, she graduated with a Masters from the University of Cologne and went to work for Sender Freies Berlin radio and TV.
At the end of 1992, she became more widely known by presenting both the talk show Mal ehrlich and the television sports magazine Sportpalast. At this time, she also worked for the Berlin TV station B1, while hosting the show Parlazzo at station WDR from 1996 to 1998.
As an absolute novelty, Anne Will started to host the male-dominated Sportschau from November 1999 on, contributing to an immediate surge in popularity. During the 2000 Summer Olympics, Anne Will presented, on ARD, a variety of live sports shows from Sydney, Australia.
Since April 14, 2001, she has presented the prime German broadcast news magazine Tagesthemen in alternation with Ulrich Wickert.
An active contributor to charities Kindernothilfe and UNICEF, she is also involved in projects aiming to eliminate landmines.
